Soul Strum is a philosophy of learning guitar through feeling, emulation and exploration of music. It’s guitar to connect you with your inner self. It’s conversational guitar for the beginner and so much more once you learn to play. It’s a lifelong friend.

Founder Joe Shoemaker has been strumming for his soul for almost 20 years, having been exposed to feeling of music through guitar at a young age. He’s primarily self-taught, which is why he created Soul Strum - to give back what he’s learned.

Beginner lessons are $35 per hour and are held in his beautiful 1902 Portland home. Come share the space and create soulful music!
